A quintet with four wind instruments and one drummer, the Quinsin Nachoff—Bruno Tocanne Project is a group intent on pushing the boundaries of what it calls “rebellious music.” Drawing members from different continents, the group makes work that is spare, lively, sometimes dissonant and sometimes melodic, but always with a sense of play and fun. Not necessarily party music, but not necessarily out of place at a party (depending on who you invite), the Nachoff—Tocanne Project’s 5 New Dreams is worth listening to. V
