Christmas rap tends to begin and end with "Christmas in Hollis," but the endless referentiality of Christmas music is actually perfect for hip hop, so there really should be more of it. Lately, the only artists with the guts to drop Christmas albums have been one-hit wonder Afroman (Colt 45 Christmas) and Dipset impresario Jim Jones. Of the two, Jones is unsurprisingly far superior: he makes an honest attempt to filter Christmas sentimentality through his loaded-up gangster persona, and a couple of these are downright touching. Not everything needs to be traditional this time of year.
