A marvelous little sing-song of a show, stuffed to the brim with imaginitive delights and little tricks, the titular Wizard that Was, or Was Not is actually the villain of our story: with guitar strums he narrates the plot, tells of us his plan to steal the kingdom from the rightful prince and princess. His plan, and the other characters' attempts to right his wrongs are presented in song, with puppets, with witty dialogue, with imagination and with a pretty strong sense of direction to keep it all moving along. Maybe it's a touch long—initially enthralled, kids were starting to get a bit restless by the end—but its bound to be one of the richer examples of children's entertainment being just plain entertaining.
