World Cup Weekend at Lake Louise

The ladies took to the slopes at Lake Louise last weekend. The Canadian team is in a rebuilding mode and did not challenge for the podium, but they did have a top 20 placement. Having never stood on the podium, Slovenia’s Ilka Stuhec was a surprise winner of both downhill races and Switzerland’s Lara Gut rounded out the weekend with a Super-G win on Sunday. Fan favourite and 16 time winner at Lake Louise Lindsay Vonn did not compete after suffering a broken arm in training four weeks ago.

Better Late Than Never

It looks like the Farmer’s Almanac may be right or close to right after all. Mother-nature is starting to cooperate and snow is blanketing our nearby mountain resorts on a regular basis. Sunshine Village appears to be at the top for most recent snow but Marmot Basin and Lake Louise are not far behind. Unfortunately, and as predicted by the Almanac, early season snow will be accompanied by frigid temperatures.
